Lisetta De Murtas is an Italian-Canadian based home chef and baker, residing in Toronto. Taught in one of the best kitchens in the world, that of her nonni, she is well versed and trained in authentic traditional Italian cuisine.
Her love affair with gastronomy, especially that of Italian, began at the very young age of 5 years old. She was taught by her parents and nonni (grandparents in Italian) to cook the dishes of their motherland and in particular the Province of Calabria, where her family is from. They wanted to ensure she was self-reliant, while also making sure that the ways of their motherland, customs and traditions continued to survive in their family for future generations to come.
Her passion to preserve old world Italian cuisine, especially cucina povera, and to keep the traditions of old Italy alive has been the driving force of her cooking and baking lessons, both in person and virtually. She has taught individuals across the globe, from the UK to the Caribbean, California, Florida, Seattle, across Canada and more. Featured in The Onside, a Canadian online news publication, and a guest leader for workshops with Girls Nite Live, Lisetta is gaining momentum. With support and encouragement from the likes of Iron Chef America Judge Mr. Mario Rizzotti and fellow Italian community members, her talent and passion is evident in her approach and style.
Lisetta offers up a variety of Italian made goods for advanced order: from artisanal pastas, sauces, cookies, and cakes to pre-made meals and more. Using only the cleanest and freshest ingredients, and no preservatives or additives.
On offer are also private lessons and virtual events. Once life is back to normal, she will resume in-person lessons, events and private in-home chef services.
Lisetta firmly believes it is her duty to keep the recipes of her ancestors alive and to further spread the love of authentic, old-school Italian Cuisine for the world to experience and enjoy. She hopes to achieve this by teaching these culinary traditions through virtual experiences, in the form of lessons that are either interactive or demonstrative. She also provides in-person lessons and offers an array of other possibilities, both interactive or demonstrative, such as Pasta Making Parties, Italian Baking Parties, Italian Cooking Parties, and in-home private chef for small gatherings, and even a Romantic Night In package. All of these stylish lessons can be wonderfully applied for bridal showers, baby showers, birthdays, or any get together, even team-building events.
